Hacked Didactic Panels, with Noriaki
Inscription Effect
Pop Culture Gallery @Stary Browar
September 2021–January 2022
Sejf jest za obrazem / The Safe is Behind the Image
Under the conceptual banners of the Hacked Didactic Panel and the Inscription Effect, the exhibition unfolded as a bending of the pop-art continuum toward high art. Two textual interventions accompanied the work.
The first, a wall panel, was hacked in its very form: hyper-visible, overexposed, its scale pushing didactic clarity into opacity. Poetic fragments smuggled avant-garde content into the institutional frame, short-circuiting its explanatory function. The second, a catalogue contribution, appeared as a comic-book manifesto — its immediacy masking a manifesto’s severity, its critical edge veiled in popular speech bubbles.
Together, these inscriptions installed a para-institutional language within a mainstream exhibition, echoing Noriaki’s ethos of subversive tenderness, graphic resilience, and streetwise semiotics.
